Tradable Bits is a bootstrapped social media technology company that helps companies gain connections and conversions. As the first full-time hire to join the team, I have been working on a large variety of design-related projects for the past 2+ years.

Working at a small organization, I have a variety of different roles (often throughout the same day). No matter what I'm working on, at its core I am most interested in developing a better system of design. My goal is always to help empower the end-user to succeed, no matter the context. Digital Marketing for a wide-range of products

Digital Marketing for a wide-range of products

A major challenge of Tradable Bits has been how to effectively market and promote a complex range of social media-related products. I created design mockups for the entire Tradable Bits public-facing website, including web pages and marketing documents associated our product set and industry solutions. The goal of these designs were to create exciting content with a standardized layout structure that could be used in sections throughout the entire website.

Meaningful analytics

Meaningful analytics

Creating various analytics reporting systems has been a great challenge. The part of the process I’m most proud of is figuring out feasibility through various API documentation. Feasibility discovery is not the most exciting, but it’s important to have real design constraints. Another essential part of this ongoing project is balancing the needs of the people using this product with information overload - so the reporting systems benefit people without overwhelming them.

Removing the chore from Moderation

Removing the chore from Moderation

‘Stream’ is a social media aggregator that had a very MVP (minimal viable product) interface when I came on board. The major improvements I focused on came from user tests with clients actually using the product. People were frustrated in not being able to focus on the visual content or have many labels to posts. The new design not only radically changed the UI, but also increased functionality and ease of use.

Custom design and development for client projects

Custom design and development for client projects

Some of the products at Tradable Bits (campaigns and social aggregation) have the potential for a lot of custom branding through HTML/CSS/JS. I’ve been in charge of both the custom design and front-end development for clients including Bell Canada, Tourism Vancouver, and many more.
